2. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Go Home Safely is an independent educational and reference platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by, or sponsored by any government authority, regulatory body, professional institution, or awarding organisation. Any reference to external bodies, legislation, or publications is solely for informational purposes.

Educational and reference use

Content within this platform is intended to support learning, study, and on-the-job reference. It is not a substitute for professional advice, on-site assessment, or competent health and safety consultancy. Health and safety law and guidance applies differently according to the specific circumstances, industry, workplace, and jurisdiction involved. For decisions carrying significant legal, regulatory, or safety consequence, seek advice from a suitably qualified and competent health and safety professional.

User-generated records

Risk assessments, near miss reports, management plans, field notes, and all other records created using this platform are generated entirely by the user. Go Home Safely accepts no responsibility whatsoever for the accuracy, completeness, suitability, or legal sufficiency of any document produced using this platform. Human judgement, on-site verification, and competent professional review are required for all safety-critical records.

This platform does not submit reports to any regulatory authority on your behalf. Statutory reporting obligations must be fulfilled through the appropriate official channels. This platform does not discharge any statutory duty.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Go Home Safely, its operators, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this platform or any content within it — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of records, loss of business, loss of income, regulatory or enforcement consequence, or any action or inaction taken in reliance on content accessed through this platform. This limitation applies regardless of the basis of the claim, including but not limited to contract, tort, negligence, or statutory duty.

External links

This platform may contain links to external websites and resources operated by third parties. Go Home Safely has no control over, and accepts no responsibility for, the content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices of those external sites. The inclusion of a link does not constitute endorsement.

Availability

This platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue access to the platform or any part of it at any time and without notice.

3. Privacy Policy

Go Home Safely is committed to protecting the privacy of those who use this platform. This policy sets out how data is handled in connection with your use of this platform and applies to all users.

Data we do not collect

Go Home Safely does not operate any server-side accounts, user profiles, or data collection systems. The platform does not collect, receive, store, or process any personal data on its own servers. We do not use advertising networks, behavioural tracking, or analytics platforms. We have no visibility into how individual users use the platform, what records they create, or who they are.

Local storage

All records created within this platform — including risk assessments, near miss reports, health and safety management plans, field notes, photographs, and any personal details you enter — are stored exclusively on your own device using your browser's built-in storage technologies. This data is not transmitted to Go Home Safely or to any third party. We have no access to it, cannot retrieve it, and cannot recover it. You are in sole control of all records at all times.

Access credentials are stored in encoded form on your device only and are not transmitted to or held by Go Home Safely.

This platform does not use cookies. Browser storage is used for app state only (such as last-visited section and reminder preferences). These are not accessible to third parties.

Data controller

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, the individual who determines the purpose and means of processing personal data is the data controller. Because all records you create within this platform exist only on your own device and are not transmitted to or processed by Go Home Safely, you are the data controller for all records you create. Go Home Safely is not a data controller or data processor in respect of those records.

If records you create contain personal data relating to other individuals — for example, names of workers recorded in a near miss or risk assessment — you are responsible for ensuring your use of that data is compliant with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This includes informing those individuals as appropriate, limiting retention to what is necessary, and securing the device on which records are held.

Hosting infrastructure

This platform is served by a third-party hosting provider. As with all web hosting infrastructure, the hosting provider may collect standard server access log data for the purposes of infrastructure operation, security, and performance monitoring. This is standard practice for all internet-hosted services. Go Home Safely does not receive, access, or hold these logs. The hosting provider's handling of such data is governed by their own privacy policy.

Video content

Where this platform provides access to externally hosted video content, that content is served by the relevant hosting platform. Go Home Safely has no control over the privacy or data practices of external video hosting providers. When you choose to view or interact with embedded video content, the terms and privacy policy of the relevant hosting service apply.

Data retention and deletion

Your records are retained on your device until you choose to delete them. You may delete individual records from within each section of the platform, or delete all records at once via Settings. Go Home Safely holds no copy of your records and cannot assist with recovery of deleted data.

Data portability

You may export your records in a portable format at any time via the Settings section of the platform. This allows you to retain a copy of your records independently of the platform and to transfer records between devices if required.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date shown at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. As we do not hold contact details for users, we are unable to provide direct notification of changes. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.

4. Your Data Rights

The UK GDPR provides individuals with a number of rights in relation to the processing of their personal data. Because Go Home Safely does not hold or process any personal data about users on its servers, these rights are in practice exercised by you directly on your own device. The right of access, right to rectification, right to erasure, right to data portability, right to restrict processing, and rights relating to automated decision-making are all exercisable by you within the platform — by viewing, editing, exporting, and deleting your own records. No request to Go Home Safely is required or would be meaningful, as we hold nothing about you to provide, rectify, or erase.

Where you believe a concern relates to data processed in connection with this platform by a third-party infrastructure provider, you may raise that concern with the relevant provider directly or seek independent advice. The UK's data protection supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

5. Terms of Use

By accessing or using this platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree to these terms in full, you must not use this platform.

Permitted use

This platform is made available for personal educational and professional reference use by authorised users. You may use it to study health and safety topics, reference legislation and guidance, create personal risk assessments and incident records, and prepare for health and safety qualifications. Any commercial use, redistribution, resale, sublicensing, or reproduction of the platform or its original content for commercial purposes is not permitted without prior written agreement from Go Home Safely.

Your responsibilities

You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of any records you create within this platform. You are responsible for maintaining regular backups of your data; Go Home Safely cannot recover data held on your device. You are responsible for the physical and digital security of the device on which the platform is used and on which records are stored. Where your records contain personal data about other individuals, you are responsible for ensuring your use of that data is lawful.

Access

Access to this platform is provided by means of an access code. Access codes are issued for individual personal use and must not be shared, transferred, or disclosed to others. Go Home Safely reserves the right to revoke access at any time, without notice, in the event of suspected misuse, breach of these terms, or for any other reason at our discretion.

Platform availability

We provide no warranty as to the continued availability, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of this platform. We reserve the right to modify, update, restrict, or withdraw any part of the platform without notice. The offline capability of this platform means your locally stored data will remain accessible on your device regardless of the platform's online availability, subject to browser and device behaviour.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this document indicates when terms were last revised. Continued use of the platform following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

6. Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy forms part of the Terms of Use and applies to all users of this platform. You agree not to use this platform in any manner that is unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or that violates any applicable law or regulation. Specifically, you must not:

Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination of access and, where applicable, referral to the relevant authorities.

7. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy

Go Home Safely is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, celebrating diversity, and fostering an inclusive environment for all. We are opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation — the protected characteristics defined under the Equality Act 2010.

This commitment applies to all aspects of our operations and to all individuals who access, use, or interact with our platform and business. We recognise that equality and inclusion are not merely legal obligations but are fundamental to building a responsible, sustainable, and trustworthy organisation.

In developing and maintaining this platform, we strive to ensure that content, design, and features are as inclusive and accessible as possible, giving consideration to the diverse needs of users across different backgrounds, abilities, and circumstances. We aim to use language that is clear, neutral, and respectful throughout.

We will not tolerate discriminatory behaviour from users of this platform, and any content submitted or generated through the platform that is found to be discriminatory, harassing, or abusive may result in access being withdrawn without notice.

This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as our operations evolve.

8. Environmental & Sustainability Policy

Go Home Safely acknowledges its responsibility to the environment and is committed to operating in a manner that minimises its environmental impact wherever practicable. We recognise that digital products and services carry an environmental footprint and we aim to act responsibly in response to this.

As a digitally delivered platform with no physical product, manufacturing process, or distribution chain, our direct environmental impact is limited primarily to the energy consumption associated with web hosting infrastructure and user device usage. We aim to mitigate this by:

We are committed to improving our understanding of our environmental impact and to incorporating environmental considerations into our decisions as the business develops. This policy will be reviewed annually.

9. Corporate Social Responsibility Statement

Go Home Safely is committed to conducting its business in a manner that is ethical, responsible, and beneficial to the communities it operates within and serves. We believe that commercial success and social responsibility are not in conflict — each strengthens the other — and we are committed to building a business that reflects this.

Education and access

Our core purpose is to make health and safety knowledge more accessible. Workplace injury, ill health, and death remain significant problems in the UK and globally. We believe that better access to knowledge — for students, workers, and professionals — can contribute meaningfully to better outcomes. In pursuing this mission, we aim to make our platform affordable, accessible, and genuinely useful to people at all levels of experience and in all types of workplace.

Ethical conduct

We are committed to conducting all business dealings with honesty, integrity, and transparency. We do not engage in deceptive practices, misrepresentation, or any conduct that could be harmful to users, partners, or the wider public. We hold ourselves to the standards we promote: accountability, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Community and profession

We support the health and safety profession and the community of practitioners, students, and advocates who make workplaces safer. We aim to contribute positively to that community through the quality of our platform and our commitment to accuracy and integrity in everything we publish.

Responsible growth

As Go Home Safely develops, we are committed to growing responsibly — considering the interests of our users, the communities we operate in, and the environment. We will not pursue growth at the expense of the values that define us. This statement will be reviewed and updated as our operations evolve.

10. Anti-Bribery & Corruption Policy

Go Home Safely has a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. We are committed to acting professionally, fairly, and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, wherever we operate, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems to counter bribery and corruption.

This policy applies to all individuals involved in the operation of Go Home Safely, including any contractors, partners, or third parties acting on our behalf. It is consistent with our obligations under the Bribery Act 2010.

We do not offer, give, request, or accept any bribe, kickback, facilitation payment, or other improper inducement, regardless of whether the other party is in the public or private sector, and regardless of the value or apparent insignificance of the payment or benefit. This applies to cash and non-cash benefits alike.

Any person associated with Go Home Safely who is found to have engaged in bribery or corruption will face immediate termination of their engagement and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant law enforcement authorities. Concerns about potential bribery or corruption may be raised under our whistleblowing procedure (see Section 11).

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as required to reflect legislative changes and the development of our operations.

11. Whistleblowing Policy

Go Home Safely is committed to the highest standards of conduct and integrity. We recognise that those involved with or affected by our operations may, on occasion, have concerns about wrongdoing, malpractice, or breach of legal obligations. This policy sets out how such concerns can be raised and how they will be handled.

A whistleblower is a person who raises a concern about suspected wrongdoing, risk, or malpractice in good faith. This policy is designed to ensure that anyone with a genuine concern can raise it without fear of detriment, retaliation, or victimisation. This includes concerns about: conduct that is unlawful or believed to be unlawful; a danger to the health, safety, or welfare of any person; a miscarriage of justice; environmental damage; or deliberate concealment of any of the above.

This policy is intended for genuine public interest disclosures and is distinct from personal grievances, which should be raised through appropriate direct channels. Concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously and investigated appropriately, even if they cannot ultimately be substantiated. Any person who raises a concern maliciously or in bad faith may be subject to appropriate action.

Concerns may be raised in writing to hello@gohomesafely.co.uk and will be treated with discretion and confidentiality to the extent practicable. This policy will be reviewed periodically.

12. Health & Safety Policy

Go Home Safely is committed to ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare of all persons engaged in or affected by our operations. This commitment extends to any contractors, visitors, or third parties who may be involved with our business activities, and to the users of our platform.

As a digitally delivered platform without a physical premises open to the public, our primary health and safety obligations relate to the safety of any individuals engaged in the operation or development of the platform and to the responsible design of our digital product. In this context, we are committed to:

This policy is made in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations. It will be reviewed annually or following any significant change to our operations.

13. Accessibility Statement

Go Home Safely is committed to making this platform as accessible as possible to all users, regardless of ability, disability, or the assistive technology they may use. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as closely as practicable for a platform of this type and scale.

In practical terms, this means we aim to ensure that: text content is legible at standard and increased browser font sizes; colour contrast meets or exceeds minimum WCAG ratios; interactive elements are keyboard-navigable; images and icons include appropriate alternative text attributes; the platform is operable without reliance on any single input method; and the structure and layout support screen reader use.

We acknowledge that not all parts of the platform may currently meet every accessibility criterion, and we are committed to making ongoing improvements. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or have a specific access requirement that the platform does not currently accommodate, please contact us using the details in Section 20. We will consider all reasonable adjustments.

This statement will be reviewed and updated periodically as the platform develops.

14. Data Retention & Records Management

As set out in our Privacy Policy (Section 3), Go Home Safely does not hold or process personal data about users on its servers. Accordingly, the data retention obligations that typically apply to organisations holding personal data about individuals do not arise in the same way in respect of our user base.

User records

Records created by users within the platform are stored on the user's own device and are subject to the user's own data retention decisions. Go Home Safely has no copy of, and no control over, these records. Users are responsible for applying appropriate retention periods to any records they create, particularly where those records contain personal data about other individuals. Records should not be kept for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which they were created.

Business records

Go Home Safely will retain its own internal business records — including commercial correspondence, financial records, legal documents, and any records relevant to the operation of the platform — for as long as required by applicable law and regulation, and for a reasonable period thereafter. Financial records will generally be retained for a minimum of six years in accordance with HMRC requirements. Contracts and legal documents will be retained for the duration of the relevant obligation and for a minimum of six years following expiry, in accordance with the Limitation Act 1980.

Records that are no longer required and for which no further retention obligation exists will be deleted or destroyed securely. This policy will be reviewed annually.

15. Information Security Policy

Go Home Safely takes the security of this platform and the integrity of its operation seriously. We are committed to implementing and maintaining appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the platform against unauthorised access, interference, misuse, or disruption.

Given the architecture of this platform — in which all user data is held on the user's own device and not transmitted to our systems — the principal information security risks we manage relate to the integrity and availability of the platform itself, and to the security of any internal business systems we operate.

Our information security approach includes: serving the platform exclusively over HTTPS to protect data in transit between servers and user devices; employing content delivery infrastructure with built-in DDoS and threat mitigation capability; limiting the scope of third-party integrations to reduce the attack surface of the platform; applying a principle of minimal data collection, such that we do not hold data that could be compromised; and maintaining awareness of relevant threats and vulnerabilities in the technologies on which this platform depends.

Users are responsible for the security of the devices on which they access and store data using this platform. We strongly recommend the use of device-level security measures including screen lock, device encryption, and access codes within the platform. If you become aware of a security vulnerability in this platform, please notify us promptly using the contact details in Section 20.

This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated in response to changes in the threat landscape or our operational context.

16. Third-Party & Supplier Policy

Go Home Safely may from time to time engage third-party suppliers, service providers, or technology providers in connection with the operation and development of this platform. We are committed to ensuring that any third parties we engage operate in a manner consistent with our values, legal obligations, and the standards set out in these policies.

In selecting and engaging third-party providers, we give consideration to: the provider's reputation, track record, and financial standing; their compliance with applicable data protection legislation; their approach to information security; their environmental and sustainability credentials where relevant; and their commitment to ethical conduct, including in relation to modern slavery, bribery, and human rights.

We do not knowingly engage suppliers who are in breach of applicable laws and regulations, and we reserve the right to terminate any engagement where we become aware of such breach. Where third-party providers process data in connection with our platform, we ensure that appropriate data processing agreements and safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable law.

This policy will be reviewed annually.

17. Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement

Go Home Safely is committed to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or supply chain. We acknowledge the importance of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings.

Given the nature and scale of this platform — a digitally delivered educational tool operated without a physical supply chain, manufactured goods, or significant contractor relationships — the risk of modern slavery within our direct operations is considered low. However, we take this responsibility seriously and will continue to review our obligations as the platform and the business behind it develops.

We do not knowingly engage with any supplier, contractor, or service provider that engages in, facilitates, or tolerates any form of forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, or exploitation. Where we procure third-party digital services, we engage only with established providers operating under recognised codes of conduct and legal obligations appropriate to their jurisdiction.

This statement is made in accordance with section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will be reviewed annually.

18. Complaints & Feedback Procedure

Go Home Safely welcomes feedback from users and is committed to resolving any complaints or concerns promptly and fairly. We take all complaints seriously and aim to use them as an opportunity to improve our platform and our service.

If you have a complaint, concern, or feedback regarding any aspect of this platform — including its content, accessibility, privacy practices, or terms — please contact us in writing using the details provided in Section 20. Please describe your concern as clearly as possible, including any relevant context, and provide a means by which we can respond to you.

We aim to acknowledge all written complaints within 5 working days of receipt and to provide a substantive response within 20 working days. Where a matter is complex or requires further investigation, we will keep you informed of progress. We will handle all complaints with fairness, discretion, and respect, and we will not treat any person less favourably as a result of raising a legitimate complaint.

Where a complaint relates to data protection and cannot be resolved to your satisfaction through this procedure, you may seek further assistance from the UK's data protection supervisory authority or from an independent legal adviser.

This procedure will be reviewed periodically.

19. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These terms and policies, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter (including non-contractual disputes or claims), shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. Each party irrevocably agrees that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these terms.

If any provision of these terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect without modification.

Nothing in these terms shall affect any statutory rights that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

20. Contact & Enquiries

For legal, privacy, complaints, or general platform enquiries, contact Go Home Safely in writing at hello@gohomesafely.co.uk. We aim to respond within 10 working days. As this platform holds no personal data about users, Subject Access Requests submitted to us would yield no information — there is nothing held about you for us to provide.
